Automatic Transmissions shift between gears automatically to optimize driving, and changes gears based on the driver's throttle pedal, vehicle speed, engine speed, and vehicle load. Typical automatic transmissions have 4-5 forward gear ratios, a Reverse, Park, and Neutral gear. Shifting gears occur automatically once the car is in Drive and there is no need for a clutch pedal or gear shift like there is in a Manual Transmission. Automatic transmission repair is complicated based on all the components that make it up, and you need to have any automatic transmission issues properly assessed by auto mechanics. Call 510-215-1841 to talk to the mechanics of Cruz Auto Repair about your transmission problems.
There are clutches in both automatic and manual transmission cars, and different types of clutches. When shifting gears, the clutch engages and disengages from the flywheel and transfers the torque through the transmission. Clutches should help your vehicle start and shift gears smoothly. The clutch in your car receives a lot of wear and can eventually wear out. If your clutch begins slipping irregularly or is making noises that are raising suspicion, contact Cruz Auto Repair to see if clutch replacement is necessary.
Four-Wheel Drive Transmission
A four-wheel (4x4) drive vehicle has differential gears, both front and rear axles, and a transfer case attached to the transmission. Four-wheel drive vehicles demand maintenance on the transfer case, front differentials, rear differentials, and transmission fluids. Visit us on 207 24th St for service on your four-wheel drive transmission services.
Front-Wheel Drive Transmission
If your vehicle has Front-wheel drive, the engine drives the front wheels only. The power is routed through the transmission to the final drive where it is split and sent to the two front wheels through the drive axles. The engine, transmission, and additional hardware is all located in the front of the car. If you are in need, Cruz Auto Repair of Richmond, CA will gladly repair front-wheel drive transmission vehicles.
Driving a vehicle with a Manual Transmission requires using the clutch pedal and gear shift to manually shift gears based on the speed of the vehicle. Manual transmissions have been built with anywhere from two to eight gears. Front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive are the two main configurations for manual transmissions. Typically, manual transmissions require less maintenance then automatic transmissions. At Cruz Auto Repair, our auto mechanics can diagnose your vehicle and then recommend the transmission repair or transmission service you need to ensure safety and improve the lifetime of your vehicle.
In motor vehicles, the transmission usually refers to the gear box, which uses gears and gear trains to transmit speed and tourque from a rotating power source to another device. You can have your car's transmission replaced with a new, rebuilt, remanufactured, repaired or used transmission. For more information contact Cruz Auto Repair in Richmond, CA. Our experienced service technicians can help you make the best decision for your vehicle and your wallet.

A transfer case is a part of a four wheel drive system found in four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles. The transfer case receives power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear axles. This can be done with a set of gears, but the majority of transfer cases manufactured today are chain driven. The transfer case is connected to the transmission and also to the front and rear axles by means of drive shafts.Trust the automotive experts at Cruz Auto Repair for all your transmission repairs.
I just met Augustin, and he really took good care of me. Replaced the damaged parts that were causing a vibration in my Dodge Ram. He took it for a test drive and made some recommendations for service. Great service, honest, friendly, and very reasonably priced. Thank you! I highly recommend this shop.
We were very thankful to have found Cruz Auto Repair on a late Saturday afternoon after the heater hose in our car sprung a leak on the interstate and leaked engine coolant everywhere. Augustin was able to fit us into his shop immediately and replaced the components right there while we waited, staying late past his normal closing time to ensure we'd be able to get home that evening. He was very down-to-earth, knew what he was doing, and charged a very reasonable rate for the work performed.
I had a master cylinder replaced on my Toyota. Efficient and honest service. It is my newly discovered, go to garage, when I do not have time or the place to work on my own car.
Great customer service! Honest guys. Very reasonable prices! They explained everything to me before signing any papers or performing any work. They are very professional. Highly recommend this shop without hesitation.
I got a great deal with Cruz Auto Repair. They were fair, honest and fast. I'll definitely recommend these guys to my family and friends.
Reasonable price and the best auto repair with diamond certified warranty!
Allow me to start by saying that we chose this shop because my wife is the Extended Care Director and a part-time substitute teacher at the school the owner (Cruz) has his son in. The owner and I spoke during and after the process, and it seemed like it was important to him to do a good job. They back their work with a full 180 day warranty - good in all 50 states! That's hard to beat!
Great turn around time for a last minute appointment. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. My only critique, help the receptionist with the calls regarding diagnosis. She did the best she could, but wasn't able to answer technical questions. Overall, great shop. And we will be back.
Great Shop and Great work! Thank you Mr. Cruz and staff for always taking care of our vehicles! Thank You Much!
A truly honest, reliable professional. I went in for a transmission overhaul and payed for this major project upfront, IN CASH. To my surprise I get a call back that they were able to find the real issue and refunded me over $2,000!! Any other unethical mechanic would have easily kept the cash and do the unnecessary work. He's a good and honest mechanic; a rare find indeed!
